AKIVA GOLDSMAN:
I am terrified. I would like to thank the Academy. At Universal, Ron Meyer, Stacey Snider and Scott Stuber. At DreamWorks, Steven Spielberg, Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen. My agents Richard Lovett, Risa Gertner and Tori Metzger and my attorney Steve Warren. I would like to thank the film's producers, the unstoppable Brian Grazer and the gifted Karen Kehela. I would like to thank John and Alicia Nash for their extraordinary courage and for entrusting us with their lives. I would like to thank the dazzling Russell Crowe whose incalculable talent and dedication are the very life of "A Beautiful Mind." And I would like to thank Ron Howard whose persistence of vision and unflagging grace are the movie's soul. And I'd like to dedicate this award to my three parents, Tev Goldsman, Mira Rothenberg and Elizabeth Lee*, who taught me that when understanding people who suffer from mental illness, it is good to have a beautiful mind, but a greater gift still is to discover a beautiful heart. Thank you for this.
