Year: 1985 (58th) Academy Awards

Category: Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award

Winner: Charles "Buddy" Rogers

Presenter: Bob Hope

Date & Venue: March 24, 1986; Dorothy Chandler Pavilion

BOB HOPE:
It makes me feel very happy to give you this Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, right here.

CHARLES "BUDDY" ROGERS:
I'm thrilled, Bob. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.

And I also want to thank the Academy from the bottom of my heart. You know, they say that old actors never die, they just lose their parts. I haven't lost all of my parts because this is the best part I've ever had in all the years I've been living in Hollywood. This is my best part. And if Jean's looking down on us tonight, I hope he's pleased, 'cause I'm thrilled. I'm gonna take this Oscar and take it home and proudly put it beside Mary's two Oscars. And Bob, Bob...

BOB HOPE:
Yes sir. Right here.

CHARLES "BUDDY" ROGERS:
I want to say: Thanks for my memories. Thank you, Bob. Thanks a million times. And I'm so thrilled to be here with Bob and to be here with all of you.
